Chapter 7

In chapter 7, it talks about the improvements in roads and also about commerce  and culture . I found this chapter to be very nice to read because I was realizing  how humans keep improving their technologies chapter by chapter . Humans went from no roads to silk roads that went across all of Eurasia . This was very important during that age because it helped with trade and exchange . They transmitted many goods with the help of creating  roads.  Goods were not  the only thing on the transit   .Another thing the  cultures were spreading around were diseases . They developed diseases from interacting with different cultures. I find that very unfortunate. Its sad that little things like this hurt us instead of create a better bond and togetherness with the rest of the world. Commerce and culture was a cool chapter to be honest. It made me in awe a couple of times .

Chapter 6 (Commonalities & Variations)

Chapter 6 is a unique chapter. It talks about commonalities and variations in the regions of Africa , the Americas , and pacific oceania. In this chapter, the narrator talks about continental comparisons civilizations africa like the meroe , axum, and the Niger River. It continues on talking about civilizations of mesoamerica like the Maya and Teotihuacan . Next thing up was the civilizations of the Andes like chavin and moche .   I didn't enjoy reading this chapter because I didn't find it as interesting as the previous chapters but I still thought it was somewhat okay to read . The chapter continues talking about  bantu africa, north america, and the peoples of the sea .

Chapter 5 (Society & Inequality)

Society and inequality were an important part of our history. In Eurasia and North Africa is what chapter 5 emphasized society about. The chapter talked about four topics . They were Society and State in China, Class and Caste in India, Slavery in the Roman Empire, and lastly, comparing Patriarchies.  For Society and State in China it talked about the elite and the officials , the landlord class, and the peasants. For class and Caste in India, the book explained the caste as varna , the caste as jati, and the functions of the caste. The next thing in the chapter was about slavery in the roman empire. It talked about the making of Roman Slavery . This part was what interested me the most. I thought about how much slavery played a big part in the mediterranean or western world . The cool thing was that slavery was also practiced in chinese, indian, and persian civilizations . Slavery is something that has hurt many people and I am glad we as humans have gone pas...

Ch 4 (Culture & Religion) AND Close Reading of “Serving is Different from Helping and Fixing”

Culture and religion in Eurasia/North Africa is very interesting. Especially the map of time for the religions around these places. People discovered religions as far back as the 4th century. They discovered christianity, life of paul, life of Jesus, Zoroastrianism, Jewish exile in Babylon, Buddhism, and Greek rationalism. Another things that grabbed my attention were the cultural traditions of this region. One tradition the Indian culture developed was Hinduism. However, it later on developed into a diversity of gods, spirits, and beliefs. The significance of this chapter was the cultures and the diversity it created.  Serving is different from helping and fixing I found this article very well written. I was very fascinated with what was said and how it was explained by the authors. I found it unique how different two similar things can be. For example, serving and helping/fixing. These words almost seem like they are very similar but they are actually very different fro...
