chapter 12

The Worlds of The Fifteenth Century- During the 15th Century, there were a couple civilizations that have been emphasized by Strayer. Some of the civilizations were The Ming Dynasty in China, the Islamic World, and the Americas where the Aztec Empire and the Inca Empire were located. For China during the fifteenth century, the Ming Dynasty voyaged across the Indian Ocean which was the last eruption of power in Timur's Empire. As for Europe, they were competing against the states that were threatened by the expanding Muslim Ottoman Empire. The Muslim Empire stretched across much of Afro-Eurasia. It's crazy how a little empire can become so big that it gets remembered to this day. SO big that it ends up across the world where its ideas are being spread out very easily. Another very interesting fact I liked about this chapter was about Machu Picchu. I find it insane how people living ages ago could come up with something like that. Even though it was discovered in 1911, it...

Chapter 11

Pastoral Peoples on the Global Stage-  From what I learned in this chapter is that the Mongols were a big empire . They even attacked Japan! The Mongols have a big history to their name . As I was reading their map of time in the book . I found it very fascinating how the Mongols ruled so many places . During the 11th, 12th, and the 13th century, was when the Mongols began to rule other places . From the life of Temujin to the high point of Black Death in Europe , Mongols ruled six different territories. They ruled China , Russia, attacked Eastern Europe, Baghdad, and attempted attacks on Japan . I didn't know the Mongols were this big in history. I am very interested in the Mongol Empire now . Especially after the death of Chinggis Khan. After his death is when the empire began to rise .

chapter 10

The Worlds of Christendom- In this chapter it talks about how christianity began to grow big all over the world . In the western world, the Romans had first abandoned the true Orthodox faith, the second had Muslim infields . Later on, Western Christendom changed to rebuild Rome again . Through christianity, many major things changed. Some of the major things were like political life in the Western Europe .   This was very important for christianity because for them , they put god first for everything . After Rome moved to the east it became a god driven territory. Then later the Byzantine empire became linked to a wider world . Then the Russians converted as well . Overall society and the church connected and by doing that it became symbolic for each country .

Chapter 8

China is a very advanced country today and in its' past . While reading this chapter, I was very fascinated about how well China took care of things . For example , the inventions they created have changed our world tremendously. China's inventions is one of the many reasons why we have it easy today . Ancient China , was extremely advanced in the technology aspect and it rarely needed any help from its neighbors . Some of the technologies they made were printing, gun powder, writing, sculptures, and so much more . What I like about those inventions the most , is how widely it got spread around other countries . Almost everyone else around the world was catching on the inventions China had . Another thing that makes me say "wow" is the fact that we still use some of their inventions today. Today , I used one of China's inventions of the printing system . I had to print out a paper for one of my classes , and I thought about Ancient and Classical Chi...

chapter 9

The world of Islam was a very interesting chapter to read .  It was the birth of a new religion and the it got spread out to the world very quickly . The messenger and the message was brought up from Muhammad Ibn Abdullah . He was like the Buddha or Jesus  to the muslim community . He was a powerful leader. What interests me the most about this chapter is the way Arabia transformed into a new community . Mohammad became very known in Mecca and from there the making of an Arab empire started . A lot of followers followed him and believed in his way of teaching . Islam became so big it spread out all the way to Spain  Within that, networks of faith , networks of exchange, and islamic civilizations kept growing . It grew so large to the point where The Kaaba was invented . The really cool thing about this was that it is a sight that everyone that practices Islam should visit it atlas once in their life . Its a stone structure that is located and made...

Chapter 7

In chapter 7, it talks about the improvements in roads and also about commerce  and culture . I found this chapter to be very nice to read because I was realizing  how humans keep improving their technologies chapter by chapter . Humans went from no roads to silk roads that went across all of Eurasia . This was very important during that age because it helped with trade and exchange . They transmitted many goods with the help of creating  roads.  Goods were not  the only thing on the transit   .Another thing the  cultures were spreading around were diseases . They developed diseases from interacting with different cultures. I find that very unfortunate. Its sad that little things like this hurt us instead of create a better bond and togetherness with the rest of the world. Commerce and culture was a cool chapter to be honest. It made me in awe a couple of times .

Chapter 6 (Commonalities & Variations)

Chapter 6 is a unique chapter. It talks about commonalities and variations in the regions of Africa , the Americas , and pacific oceania. In this chapter, the narrator talks about continental comparisons civilizations africa like the meroe , axum, and the Niger River. It continues on talking about civilizations of mesoamerica like the Maya and Teotihuacan . Next thing up was the civilizations of the Andes like chavin and moche .   I didn't enjoy reading this chapter because I didn't find it as interesting as the previous chapters but I still thought it was somewhat okay to read . The chapter continues talking about  bantu africa, north america, and the peoples of the sea .
